Kokkinos Winery Paliokalias
Description
Kokkinos Winery Paliokalias
PDO Naoussa
Xinomavro 100%
Paliokalias is also the name of the vineyard located north of Stenimahos, an area of the City of Naousa, in the region of Imathia in Greece, known for the deep underground waters and the cool breezes that come down from Mount Vermio. The soils are alkaline and clay-limestone. The vineyard is 45 years old. Traditional red wine vinification in 12 days extraction. The harvest is done by hand and the grapes were chosen individually in order to yield the number of bottles of “Paliokalias” Kokkinos. The result is a xinomavro wine which has the best elements of the typical features (aromas of sun dried tomatoes, olives) and a modern twist with notes of eucalyptus and licorices which stay until the last aftertaste. The label is made of wood, and is unique for every bottle, as is the wine of “Paliokalias”.
Food Pairing: Pasta, Game (deer, venison), Mature and hard cheese
